swift... while i'm not necessarily a fan of this picture, nor do i find it uplifting... i'm curious as to what sets this picture in such stark contrast from any of the other pictures that have been posted on this site. granted, this is different than church signs, but i'm interested in hearing what sets this picture apart from the pictures of Christ made out of chocolate, post-it notes, Jesus as a hockey player, or a dismantled Jesus in a wooden box. on the one hand i think i could guess your answer, but on the other hand i'm confused that this one is so deeply offensive to you while the others are funny, thoughtful, or worth posting.
i'm not condemning, just looking for some feedback here, swift?
Oh, I think I must have come off as offended - I was just making a quick comment between calls here at work. However, something about this repulsive morally repugnant man portraying an immage of Christ is more offensive to me than chocolate - though there are some correlations. Are all immages of Christ/graffiti worth posting and commenting on or is it more worthwhile to think about the immages that seem to at least grasp at some good - this one doesn't - it's a mockery. But, no it's not that terribly more offensive to me than some others.
good point swift, what are the boundaries? i definitely have some images i wouldn't put up- but one's that feel important none the less. such is the nature of man grappling with spiritual themes... most of our attempts will feel irreligious and offend someone. (not that this image is someone's meaningful attempt to understand christology)- but when i read what you wrote above about snoop being a morally repugnant man it reminded me of Christ's taking on sin- then i thought it should be my face instead. i guess that is where these images take me... to explore their subversive, kitsch-esque message is fun and i've found it to be meaningful work. when people get offended, i always want to dialog and see where it takes both of us... that's what was behind me wanting to pull more thoughts from you swift. good stuff.

irreligious? i don't get it.
From dictionary.com:

i'm curious if you are pursuing dialog or just making statements.
