as a beginning parent, i've been thinking and rethinking a lot of the stuff that christian parents "just do." what is up with the folded hands and on knees? is it worth passing on to the next generation? is it just cultural or is there a spiritual dimension? i don't kneel when i pray and i have a hard time closing my eyes because i fall asleep if i do... so should i teach my son this prayer etiquit?
it's totally cultural although I'm sure thereare plenty of spiritual justifications. I'm told the jews of jesus' time prayed standing with their eyes and hands raised toward heaven. - i can still nod if in this positioon but it's much harder.
