this a beautiful image. it's also a sad one as i think of Christianity's medieval history of crusades against Muslim peoples. make the link to the Bush's language around "crusading against evil" and i'm wondering where the true Cross of Christ fits in this land where incredible violence has been done in the name of Western Christianity.
i agree... it's such a beautiful picture (credit goes to Lydia for finding it)... and i actually couldn't get the Crusades out of my mind either... talking with lydia too, it really brought us back to the book "The Kite Runner"... it's a moving story about two boys growing up in different classes in Afghanistan from the end of the monarchy to the beginnings of the Taliban rule, which brought so much corruption and destruction to what was once a beautiful and seemingly peaceful place...
